Sc Rejects Pil Seeking Return To Ballot Papers

Bogus Voting And Booth Capturing Can Be Greatly Reduced By The Use OF EVMs

New Delhi  :  The supreme court on thursday rejected a pil which cited  a resolution passed by congress and 16 other political parties opposing use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) to seek re - infroduction of ballot paper voting system for ongoing elections to state assemblies and the 2019 general elections. Appearing for ngo 'nyaya bhoomi',abvocate a d n rao argued before a bench of chief justice ranjan gogi and justices k m joseph and m r shah that since majority of political parties, including the oldest party (congress), have expressed no - confidnce in EVMs, it would be in the dence in EVMs, it would be in the interest of maintaining fairness and purity of elections to revert to the ballot paper system.
